Existing within  a socially contrived state of apathy, humanity has grown disconnected, blind to the cultural adjacencies that unites. On the site of the failed Chicago's Spire, Center for Induced Empathy [CIE] collects events and experiences throughout the metropolis, providing an avenue for the synchronization of perspectives and coalescence of culture. Moving within open superstructure, the dock for migrating drones, visitors are surrounded by the transfer of collected data to inhabitable capsules to re-experience Chicago's latest cultural events. A machine of empathy, CIE explores the social role of architecture through a pair of experiential sequences. Ascending to the memorial of synthesized conflict, users process compassion through a series of theaters, observing collected cultural perspectives. Upon entering the elevated monument, users may synthesize their experience via hanging data displays and release a drone into the city to shine a temporary light memorial on a site of conflict. Subsequently descending along a series of platforms overlooking the city and shore, participants return to reality via sunken, contemplative orchard, the final decompression zone.

CIE is a dynamic mapping of Chicago's cultural history, mending a deteriorating urban fabric plagued by the manifestation of conflict.
