An exploration into creating an ultra-efficient fabrication process for sculptural surfaces. Mass Migration is a zero waste procedure beginning with the hotwire cutting of EPS foam into molds. Serving as mold, structure and insulation, the cut foam panels are then wrapped by fiber-reinforced polymer [FRP] in a process reminiscent of surfboard construction. This approach is a more sustainable method that simply redistributes material over the surface resulting in apertures, projections and ornamental reliefs that hold the potential for integral shading and light reflection.
