An adaptable and transformative system for urban renewal.

A repetitive modular system of multifunctional panels allows for the transformation of underutilized urban sites. Through simple user interaction, the project can adapt to varying degrees of programming. In its current location under the Bispeengbuen Highway, Delineation services both Nørrebro and Frederiksberg as a gallery for local artists, a social gathering space, a marketplace, and a concert venue.

The system of panels provide a space in the community for personal expression acting as both canvases for local artistic expression and as loose delineations of social gathering spaces. Intended to behave as a social installation project, the panels capture the essence of a community through applied art and tagging. They serve as records of the current trends and mindset of the community giving the project a sense of place, both current and previous .

M A R K E T P L A C E

The system invites user interaction through its simple operability. Clusters of panels unfold at various heights, transforming into vendor booths, working surfaces, and seating. This operability is set within cluster regions to maximize community control of the market density while maintaining efficient circulation. The marketplace flow is aided by a series of highlighted panels that remain inoperable to serve as lit pathways that meander between the market clusters.

C O N C E R T V E N U E

The system accommodates the need for safe nightlife activities in the region. The unique acoustic qualities of the site is appealing as a concert venue, especially during the summer months. The panel clusters are spaced around set clearings of varying size, the largest has a unique cluster of panels that can transform into a concert stage. The open floorpan of the installation allows for an 'ebb and flow' of the concert crowds.
